And the Spanish newspaper, “Marca”, had confirmed that the meeting that took place between the duo in a restaurant after the La Liga meeting, came with the aim of a reciprocal deal between Antoine Griezmann and Alvaro Morata.
But soon, the newspaper “Mundo Deportivo” came out to clarify the truth about Barcelona’s desire to include Morata after the end of his loan period to Juventus in the summer.
The newspaper confirmed, that no exchange was negotiated between Griezmann and Morata during Al Yamani’s meeting with Angel Marin.
And the newspaper said, that Morata was one of Barcelona’s main goals last January, and the club entered into negotiations to include him, but they did not succeed, to sign Pierre Aubameyang.
Because of this scenario, the newspapers expected that Barcelona would try to include him again during the upcoming summer transfers.
However, Mundo Deportivo reported that Morata is not a priority for Barcelona, as there is a state of focus on the most important deal to include one of the big stars, led by Robert Lewandowski, Bayern Munich striker, or Sadio Mane, the Liverpool star.
And the newspaper explained, that the Catalan club aspires to have financial liquidity as soon as possible, to enter the race to contract with any of the two stars before the expiration of their contracts in June 2023.
The intention is clear in the Spanish club, with the player staying and activating the condition of contracting him permanently for 40 million euros in June of next year.
This talk about the French winger’s deal is consistent with the desire of coach Diego Simeone and Enrique Cerezo, president of the club, especially the latter, who recently came out to describe him as one of the three or four best players in the world.
